ALTERNATIVE HAIR ANNOUNCES THE 2008 VISIONARY AWARD

The VISIONARY AWARD is a special photographic competition that embraces artistic hairdressers and recognises their talent and vision. From all the entries received, 12 hairdressers will be selected to appear in the Visionary Award Presentation at the 2008 Alternative Hair Show at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, October 19th. One of these 10 will be then chosen to participate with their own show in 2009.

The selection process commences with the creation of 1 image. This year Alternative Hair pays homage to its International Patron, Vidal Sassoon, and it is therefore fitting that the 2008 Visionary Award should invite entrants to take reference from Vidal’s work to create a contemporary image inspired by his iconic hairstyles.
As the purpose of Alternative Hair is to raise funds for Leukaemia Research, an entry fee of £30 is payable. This will go directly to Leukaemia Research. (All entrants are therefore required to enclose a cheque payable to ‘Leukaemia Research’ together with their photograph.)

Please note that the closing date for entry is Friday 29th August.

Evento, nel quale sono state presentate nuove  fantastiche idee mare di tendenza. Una serata dall’ottimo riscontro, tanto che la collaborazione tra il team di hairstylists e Yamamay si ripeterà per dare luogo ad un nuovo show in data 4 Agosto.

EMOTIONS

It is only 3 months to the annual Alternative Hair Show.
Each year the show becomes bigger and better and the 2008 show is no exception.

The 2008 Alternative Hair Show will be, as ever, an emotional affair against Leukaemia. So its theme for 2008: “Emotions” perhaps says it all. The Show once again takes place at the magnificent Royal Albert Hall in Central London, and will be held on Sunday 19th October. This year’s show is especially poignant as it gives Alternative Hair an opportunity to celebrate the 80th birthday of its International Patron, Vidal Sassoon.
Also on the programme this year is the re-instated Visionary Award. This popular section of the show gives 10 British hairdressers, (who have never participated in the Alternative Hair Show) the opportunity to present one model, this year inspired by the work of Vidal Sassoon. Entry commences by sending in one photographic image. A selection process will then elect 10 hairdressers to recreate their contemporary vision of Vidal Sassoon on the evening of the show. From these 10 finalists, one will be selected to appear at the Alternative Hair Show in 2009, either in the UK or abroad.
The Alternative Hair Show is always a visually exciting evening and “Emotions” promises to be both entertaining and a celebration of the creativity that arises from within this exciting global profession. As in previous years, the show includes hairdressing teams from Europe, the USA and Japan, as well as from the UK.

L’Oréal Professionnel invited Greys hairdressing in Hertfordshire to style hair for the launch of house of fraser’s  autumn/winter 2008 collections from its exclusives brands, Linea, Untold, Howick and kenneth Cole. The catwalk event was held at the Royal Academy in central London and the team from Greys created simple low ponytails to complement the elegant collections.
