MILANO fa causa a GOOGLE

Don’t panic

over credit crunch

The effect of the current economic climate on the professional hairdressing industry is not as dramatic as report in the financial press suggest, according to KPSS CEO and president Thomas Dieckhoff.
Spaking at the official launch of the Goldwell Trend Zoom Color Challenge international final in Valencia, Spain, Thomas said:”So far, there has not been a dramatic effect on the professional hairdressing industry. There has been no discernible decline in visits.”
Thomas said that recent research in Goldwell’s homa country, Germany, showed that only 25% of consumers felt personally affected by the credit crunch. He did acknowledge, however, that clients were concerned about how they might be affected in the future and that salons and manufacturers needed to work together to offer services wich would increase, client spend. “Visiting cycles are going to get longer and this is a challenge for us,” said Thomas. “It is now more important than ever to have a strong partnership between supplier and salon.”

Daily mail extensions article slammed

Extension companies have slammed a recent article in the Daily Mail newspaper claiming hair extensions can lead to permanent baldness.
The story by journalist Pat hagan cites research published in the British Journal of Dermatology, and claims that extensions can cause hair to fall out within a week of being fitted – a condition knows as traction alopecia. leading trichologist Iain Sallis-official advisor to extension supplier Racoon International-has written to Hagan, condemning the article for being littered with half-truths.
“Hair extensions are like any other service from hairdresser,” states Iain in the letter. “They are only as good as the person who is applying them, and the problem you have seen are caused by lack of education on the stylist’s part and the part of the business wich supplies the education. Myself and Racoon International have worked tirelessly on educating the Racoon stylists on hair stylist and how to avoid them.”
Philip Sharp, managing director of Great Lenghs, also condemned the article for givin’m a false impression of the hair extensions industry. Said Philip: “We take clients’wellbeing extremely seriously and we are, therefore, surprised to see the article call for a ban on all hair extension product. This is a blinkered view and is not backed-up with any research from the suppliers within the industry.”
