‘Tribe’ is an exploration of silhouettes, textures, and definitions. This collection transports you to a dystopian future, capturing the essence of apocalyptic femininity with an androgynous touch. A cocktail of irregular textures and lengths, silhouettes and deliberately disconnected, choppy cuts are infused with muted, subtle tones to create a dominant, striking finish. ‘Tribe’ captivates with every look luring you in further.

“I wanted to celebrate confidence from a woman’s perspective.

I imagined each model as the distilled qualities of female empowerment, ambassadors of an elemental and commanding feminine Presence. This collection is called Parousia (the Greek word for Presence). Each look was used as a focal point to display core hairdressing techniques, to emphasise the strength of skill and how it is embodied by the models.”

The beauty of this style is its deceptive simplicity. This is not “just” a haircut.  It’s a square-layered shape with geo angles cut around the face accenting cheek bones and jaw line with a bold fringe that makes it instantly modern. 

What makes this cut truly special is its versatility. When hair is pulled into a ponytail, the face-framing pieces remain to give a short hair cut look highlighting the cheekbones and defining the jawline. It’s structured yet wearable. Fashion-forward yet easy. Powerful, without trying too hard. It’s geometry with attitude.

“This collection is a true collaboration of skills, personalities and artists of the Smartest73 Artistic Team and photographer Jamie Blanshard. The vision, born from the concept of Japanese street culture fused with manga influences, was a collective decision to explore. We all share a passion and fascination for the history behind this culture, so all relished the opportunity to create our interpretation of it. Originally shot in colour, our Synergy collection was changed to black and white to give a darker, moodier atmosphere. Contrasting darks to ultra lights enhance the strong undone textures of big, soft curls, brushed out dishevelled waves to the clean, blunt lines and smooth shine.

“This collection is my reflection of the strong, vivid colour predominately illustrated in the Japanese comic genre. The vision for this collection was born from the concept of Japanese street culture fused with manga influences. Creatively it was a fascinating concept to explore as the history behind this culture is so intrinsically reliant on colour in all its forms but especially the bold! I relished the opportunity to express my creativity with my interpretation of such an exciting and diverse subject.
From melted, blurry pastels to the strong, bold vivid shades. the variation and breadth of the palette really exaggerates and perfectly complements the undone textures of big, soft curls, brushed out dishevelled waves to the clean, blunt lines and smooth, glossy shine.”
