This collection is really special to me as I drew most of my inspiration from navigating my own journey over the last 2 years into becoming a mother for the second time. I used the idea of going from night to day to symbolise a journey of my own strength and empowerment. I show this using my choices of colour through the collection, opting for tones of deep sunrises and bright sunsets as well as black and white to represent the night and the day. I wanted to show how each look could be impactful, even with an element of softness and femininity, much like our journey through matrescence. Relating to this idea, I took inspiration from different matriarchal notions, such as my hat look nodding towards a regal, royal character. Then both my braided and bun looks paying ode to tribal characters. Both represent women in their power.
