The Hydra of Lerna, daughter of Typhon and Echidna, was an ancient and merciless telluric aquatic monster in the shape of a polyphyletic serpent – whose number of heads could range anywhere between three to a hundred or even ten thousand according to sources. This serpentine monster had poisonous breath and blood so venomous that even its scent was deadly.
