UK: First All-Party Parliamentary Group
meeting on hair

The Hair Council announced the first All-Party Parliamentary Group meeting on hair has taken place in the House of Commons. MPs from the main parties met under the chairmanship of then-shadow minister for business, innovation and skills Nia Griffiths MP – recently appointed shadow secretary of state for Wales.

Barber John McNally MP, from the SNP, was elected vice chair. Sally started the APPG to enable subjects important to UK hairdressers and barbers to be discussed. Topics such as the minimum wage, apprentices and VAT will be looked at as well as the need to professionalise the industry through registration.
