Salon Services has conducted its regular survey into the hairdressing and beauty industry, Beautiful Britain. This marks the third year the company has conducted the survey, and the latest findings suggest the industry is “resilient and optimistic”, according to the company. On the subject of optimism, the survey found that 64% of professionals were more optimistic than a year ago, compared with 58% in 2012 and just 43% in 2011. Many respondents also see hair and beauty as a long-term career, with 72% expecting to always work in the industry. Other signs of optimism include an increase in the number of people employed within salon business. Wales has seen the biggest jump in the average number of full-time staff, rising from 1.3 in 2012 to three in 2013.
