One year after the earthquake that hit Port-au-Prince, the capital of the Caribbean island of Haiti, killing more than 300 000 people, the Embassy of Italy in Haiti promotes Project Fashion-Able Haiti under the auspices of the Municipality of Rome and the Belstaff support, Stella Jean, Lincoln’s New York and Louis de Bourbon and launched a social campaign for the recovery of the country through Fashion. The Campaign, signed by the photographer Marc D’Amico, is designed to tell evocative shots through three, different symbolic meanings of the Haitian culture steeped in spiritualism and the Caribbean heritage and craftsmanship. Three styles tailored to the symbolic fashion, with the aim of making the Italian fashion houses to invest part of manufacturing output in Haiti for the U.S. market through the Bill Hope (US-Haiti tax-exempt) and try to raise even thus, the country’s economy. Now, aid is only for this population assistance. The next step is to give its people a way to face the future with the hope of change through work. It is only through this that can be the rebirth of the nation and the subsequent independence from the current foreign aid.
