Huge success for the Vienna edition of Alternative Hair Show which guest on May 3rd 2’000 persons. Spectacular effects and Top level fashion’s contents during this unique and emotional charity event that raise 80.000,00 € for Leukaemia Research. SUPERLATIVE! This honour the category: congratulation!

3rd May 2009 – Vienna, Austria

In a truly international and spectacular fashion, exciting new talent emerges out of the ALTERNATIVE HAIR Show, Vienna. Following in the London 2008 ALTERNATIVE HAIR Show theme, the 2009 the show was entitled “Emotions”. The participating hair teams had been asked to use this concept as the theme for their shows, and certainly showed their creativity with their interpretations of love, anger, jealousy and anarchy. The Artistic teams presented stunning creative presentations with both inspirational and imaginative performances. The teams appearing at the ALTERNATIVE HAIR Show 2009 were (in alphabetical order): ALAN EDWARDS – Scotland; BUNDY BUNDY – Austria; EASY HAIR FEHRINGER – Austria; KOHSUKE VISUAL NETWORK – Japan; LASZLO HAJAS – Hungary; MALGORZATA BABICZ – Poland; MIKEL LUZEA – Spain; PETRA MECHUROVA – Czech Republic; S&A GROUP – Ukraine; SANRIZZ GROUP – UK; SASSOON – UK; STEVO – Slovenia; TIGI INTERNATIONAL CREATIVE TEAM – UK; WINTERS – Italy. The evening was hosted by Austrian celebrity, Majoram Weichselbraun. The fantastic songer, Lara Gordon and her band opened the evening with a special song composed by Erwin Fehringer, called “A child in time”. Francesco Malapena, the sensational Italian opera singer, followed with the beautiful rendition of “O sole mio”, to the crowd to their feet in the emotional finale while he sang the beautiful “Nessun dorma”, and was joined on stage with the Artistic teams and the children to close the evening.

ALTERNATIVE HAIR SHOW KALEIDOSCOPE 

The Show’s charity links with Leukaemia Research make it a poignant evening and it is always tinged with emotion.

The concept of the award came from Alternative Hair’s International President, Antony Mascolo. Entry is by photograph and the finalists are invited to present one model during a stand-alone presentation within the show.

THE INCREDIBLY SUCCESSFUL ALTERNATIVE HAIR VISIONARY AWARD GOES INTERNATIONAL!! Announcing the 2009 INTERNATIONAL VISIONARY AWARD The VISIONARY AWARD is a special photographic competition that embraces artistic hairdressers and recognises their talent and vision. From all the entries received, finalists will be selected to appear in the International Visionary Award Presentation at the 2009 Alternative Hair Show at the Royal Albert Hall on Sunday, October 18th. Of the finalists, one winner will be then chosen to participate with their own show in 2010. The selection process commences with the creation of 1 image and a 50 word description of the motivation and inspiration behind the image. As the purpose of Alternative Hair is to raise funds for Leukaemia Research, an entry fee of £35 is payable. This will go directly to Leukaemia Research. (All entrants are therefore required to enclose a cheque payable to ‘Leukaemia Research’ together with their photograph.) Please note that the closing date for entry is Monday 31st August. Applicants can apply online www.alternativehair.org. Alternative Hair is a non-profit-organisation that every year fund-raises for Leukaemia Research. During the 27 years since its inception, Alternative Hair has raised in the region of £7 Million for Leukaemia Research.

“Romantica” by MAHOGANY – UK

ROMANTICA COLLECTION

Romantica fuses rock sensibilities with eternal English dandy. Its pistols at dawn in the early morning mist. It’s lace and ruffles creating an antique but totally modern image. The technique is working strict sectioning panels that are cut individually in distinct disconnection that creates the possibilities to dress and style the hair in many alternative ways. The colour is strong but faded creating the same antique feeling of the clothes and is achieved by working hand in hand with the cut shape to emphasise and decorate the total look.
