Negli Stati Uniti, New York e California potrebbero diventare i primi Stati a vietare queste sostanze. Recenti studi hanno rilevato alti livelli di queste sfere di plastica nelle acque di New York del lago Erie, scoprendo che la maggior parte delle acque dello Stato sono state inquinate. In questo contesto, L’ORÉAL ha annunciato il 12 febbraio la sua decisione di non utilizzare più microsfere di polietilene nei suoi scrub entro il 2017 .
After Unilever and Johnson & Johnson, L’Oréal announced the phasing out of plastic microbeads from its cosmetic products. In the United States, New York and California may become the first states to ban these substances. Recent studies have found high levels of these plastic beads in the New York waters of Lake Erie, and revealed that most of the state’s waters were polluted. In this context, L’Oréal has announced on February 12 its decision to no longer use microbeads of polyethylene in its scrubs by 2017.
